The 4th Plenary Meeting of the VELES Excellence Hub project took place in Gothenburg, Sweden, this June. Hosted by Chalmers Industriteknik, the two-day General Assembly brought together the consortium to review progress, strengthen collaboration, and align on the next steps toward building the Regional Smart Health Data Space (RSHDS).
HDHC played an active role throughout the meeting, contributing to key discussions and presenting the framework for the upcoming pilot study in Greece, focused on cancer treatment. This pilot will leverage real-world data to support clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes—an essential step toward realizing the VELES vision of data-driven, regional healthcare innovation.
One of the meeting's highlights was the presentation by Michel Silvestri of the Swedish eHealth Agency, who provided a detailed look into Sweden’s national approach to preparing for the European Health Data Space (EHDS). His insights, grounded in hands-on experience from the country’s EHDS negotiation team, offered practical guidance and fresh perspectives that resonated strongly with the VELES consortium.
The meeting concluded with a site visit to the Digital Health Arena in Gothenburg, a hub for data-driven life science innovation. The visit energized participants and reinforced the importance of cross-sector collaboration in transforming health data into actionable, equitable solutions across regions.
Special thanks to Chalmers Industriteknik for their generous hospitality and to all contributors who continue to drive this pioneering initiative forward. With shared purpose and clear direction, VELES remains firmly on course to shape the future of regional smart health data infrastructure across Europe.
