February 9th, 2023 - The Level Up project was officially launched in Nicosia, Cyprus. The kick-off meeting was organised by GrantXpert Consulting, the Project Coordinator and hosted by the European University Cyprus. The project is a joint initiative of seven renowned training providers from Cyprus, Greece, Germany, Italy, and Finland, supported by seven business associations from Cyprus, Greece, Germany, Poland, and Hungary. The project aims to empower the labor force of European SMEs with digital competencies through the development and provision of short-term training courses.

The consortium has identified key capacity areas, such as Cybersecurity, Data Literacy, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), microelectronics/microcontrollers, Internet of Things (IoT), 3D printing and 3D modelling, cloud, and programming, to design industry-oriented training courses targeting SMEs and job seekers. The Level Up project will offer a comprehensive range of over 100 high-quality and industry-focused training courses, catering to the specific needs of SMEs. These courses will be made available to an estimated 15,000 participants from 3,000 SMEs throughout the lifespan of the project.

"This project is a significant step towards bridging the digital skills gap among the European SMEs' workforce, particularly in the identified key capacity areas," said a business association representative during the project's presentation at the kick-off meeting. The Level Up project will address the pressing need for digital skills in European SMEs and is expected to have a significant impact on their digital transformation.

The Level Up training courses will upskill and reskill managers and employees, empowering them to enable their organization’s digital transformation. The business associations supporting the project will promote the training courses to a great number of SMEs, ensuring accessibility to as many SMEs as possible. This initiative will equip SMEs with the digital competencies they require to thrive in today's fast-paced digital economy.

The Level Up project is funded by the Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) of the European Union, and will be implemented from January 2023 through December 2025.
